Want to make your bike handle better for free? This no-cost tip applies to all dirt bikes, but especially applies to the 2019 Honda CRF450R. This model’s new chassis design tends to “bind up” with normal riding and after about 10 hours, it is a good idea to retorque critical bolts.

Do you take the opportunity to grease or Loctite the treads? Or grease the flange surfaces of the bolts and nuts?

Should shim the frame to engine with feeler stock to take up the side play, and avoid putting the frame into excess torsion. Did that on my 500,s and it reduced vibration and rigidity a lot. Allows the frame to work more in its elastic range.

Good cheap advice. I’d tighten the swingarm bolt first though. That is the only mount that has bearings involved and I assume that would line up best if tighten first. Other theories welcome.
